Learn to Swim Classes

Class Hours: Monday-Friday 4-6 and Saturday 9-11.
Lessons are all 30 minutes in length and have no more than 4 children per class for the first 4 levels of learn to swim (Tadpole, Frog, Goldfish, Clownfish). The Parent/Child classes we allow up to 8 and the last level of learn to swim (Marlins) will have up to 6.
We offer private/semi-private lessons scheduled by appointment.
Mums and Bubs
Parent/Child Class
Children ages 6 months – 18 months of age
Class ratio 8/1
This is a half hour class which consists of games, songs, submersion’s, floating and gross motor skills; while also focusing on kicking, reaching, and blowing bubbles. Barbells and Noodles will be introduced at this level and only used for a minimal time each class while learning the of legs.
Little Floaters (Transitional Class)
Parent/Child Class
Children ages 15 month – 28 months of age
Class ratio 6/1
This class is similar to the “Mums and Bubs” class. The only difference is the parent will start in the water with the child and then slowly remove themselves from the water once the child is fully ready to take part in the class alone. Once the child is ready to swim alone with the instructor they will be ready to move to a Tadpole class!
Curriculum:
Water Safety: Climbing in and out of the pool safely, falling in and turning around, grab the wall and climb out safely
Falling in and coming to the surface for air
Floating on back for a minimal of 10 seconds
Monkey arms around edge of pool
Swimming on Barbell/Noodle
Blowing bubbles
Pushing off of the wall and rolling to back
Tadpole
Children ages 2-6 (classes broken down by age)
Class ratio 4/1
Half hour class without a parent in the water. The child should be comfortable working with the instructors in a one on one setting. The instructor will focus on building the child’s confidence and strength in the water while focusing on water safety.
Curriculum:
Water Safety: Sitting on the wall, climbing in and out. Falling in and turning to grab the wall. Falling in and rolling to back
Floating on back for 20 seconds without assistance
Swimming on a barbell – scoops and skips w/ assistance
Kicking on back w/ assistance of instructor
Putting face in the water while kicking on barbell or with the instructor
Pushing off the wall and rolling to back
Putting ears in the water alternating sides
Monkey arms around the pool
Jumping into the pool and submerging
Frogs
Children ages 3 & up (classes broken down by age)
Class ratio 4/1
This is a half hour class without a parent in the water. The child should be comfortable in the water, able to put their face in and blow bubbles, swim with limited assistance, and comfortable on their back.
Curriculum:
Water safety: Climbing in and out safely. Falling in and rolling to back. Falling in and swimming back to the wall.
Kicking with the use of a noodle
Swimming independently with face in the water
Floating independently for 20+ seconds
Kicking on back independently for a short distance
Introduction to Freestyle Stroke
Roll from stomach to back without assistance
Sitting dives in deep end, swim to the ladder and climb out
Goldfish
Children ages 4 & up (classes broken down by age)
Class ratio 4/1
During this level, our focus is on body position. Swimmers will be focusing on proper Freestyle Stroke technique and rotary breathing, Streamline freestyle kick, kicking independently on back for 12.5 meters, proper back stroke technique, retrieving objects from bottom of pool, knee dives & treading water in deep end of pool, as well as introduction to breast stroke kick. Our goal is to have the swimmer be able to swim the full distance unassisted prior to moving up to the next level.
Clownfish
Children ages 5 & up (classes broken down by age when available)
Class ratio 5/1
During this level our focus is on correct body position and controlled technique while increasing distance. Swimmers will be focusing on swimming 20 yards of freestyle stroke and back stroke, learning correct form on breast stroke, knee dives into streamline in the deep end, retrieving objects off the bottom of the pool in deeper water, as well as introducing butterfly kick. Our goal is to have the swimmer be efficient at freestyle, breast stroke as well as completing 20 yards of breast stroke prior to moving up to the next level.
Marlins
Ages 5 & up
Class ratio 6/1
During this level the instructor will be focusing on building stamina, maintaining & strengthening technique on all four strokes, swimmers will learn what an IM (individual medley) is, standing dives in deep end, flip turns, standing dives into stream line for half length of the pool.
Dolphins
Ages 5 & up
Class ratio 6/1
During this class we will preparing swimmers to move up to a swim team. The focus will remain on technique, distance and endurance.
